Last updated on Thursday, September 30, 2010

(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - Indiana is losing at least $147 million dollars a year to businesses who misclassify workers as independent contractors.

A University of Missouri-Kansas City study says the state may be losing as much as a quarter-billion dollars in income taxes to workers who aren't issued W-2's.

Another $90-137 million is lost to local governments and the state's Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund.
