Indiana Lawmakers Battle Methamphetamine Epidemic

Last updated on Thursday, September 9, 2010

(UNDATED) - Indiana lawmakers seek help from experts on how to handle the methamphetamine epidemic.

The District Attorney for Lincoln County, Oregon, Rob Bovett, says his home state has effectively battled the problem by making pseudoephedrine, the drug most commonly used to manufacture meth, available only with a doctor's prescription.

Before Oregon made pseudoephedrine a prescription-only drug, police uncovered about 500 meth labs each year.
