Study Shows Dangers Of Driving With A Pet

Last updated on Friday, August 20, 2010

(UNDATED) - A recent Triple-A study indicates that drivers love to bring their dogs with them on road trips and day-to-day errands.

But the report also shows they engage in risky behavior when their furry friends are along for the ride.

The study found more than half pet their dog while driving, and one in five allowed their dog to sit in their lap.

Other distracting behaviors drivers admitted to include giving food and water to their dog and playing with their dog.

The Triple-A Foundation For Traffic Safety found that looking away from the road for only two seconds doubles the risk of being in a crash.
