Electronic Tags May Violate Customers' Privacy

Last updated on Friday, August 13, 2010

(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - An information security expert from Purdue says electronic tags being put in clothes and other items could violate customers’ privacy.

Professor Eugene Spafford says companies can find out what customers are buying by tracking them in their stores.

Spafford warns customers should be aware that retailers may not tell you which items they are tracking and the items can be tracked outside the stores.
