WWII Veterans Attend USS Indianapolis Model Ceremony

Last updated on Friday, July 30, 2010

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Ten men who sailed on the USS Indianapolis (BB-58) in WWII were on hand Thursday during a christening ceremony for a model of the ship at the Indiana War Memorial.

Brigadier General J. Stewart Goodwin says the featured guests, now in their 80's and 90's, were appreciative of the effort to preserve history.

The new 60 pound model, which is over 7 feet long and 14 inches wide, will be the heart of the new WWII Navy Exhibit at the memorial in downtown Indianapolis.
