Officer Surrenders To Cocaine Scheme

(COLUMBUS, IN) - The former Columbus Police officer charged in an evidence-tampering scheme surrendered to authorities Wednesday, but was quickly released on bond.

28-year-old Matthew Stephenson was booked into Bartholomew County Jail and bonded out on $5,000.

Stephenson and former county jailer, 29-year-old Jacob Hopkins, are charged with conspiracy to commit dealing cocaine, official misconduct and obstruction of justice.
