Box Of Used Hearing Aids Mistaken As Explosive

Last updated on Friday, July 9, 2010

(ROSSVILLE, IN) - A suspicious package that caused the evacuation of a city block in Rossville Thursday morning turned out to be a donation of used hearing aids.

Police were called to the Regions Bank around 7:30AM after the box was found inside the main doors.

The Indiana State Police Bomb Squad was called and blew up the package in a nearby parking lot.

A Rossville woman later told police she was responsible for leaving the box of hearing aids at the bank, which is a drop off site for donations to the local lions club.

No charges are being filed.
