(UNDATED) - A Hoosier Marine has been killed in the line of duty.
Speedway native Sergeant John Rankel was among seven Americans killed in Afghanistan Monday, on what is being called the deadliest day of the year for international forces in the country.
Rankel graduated from Speedway High School in 2005.
Plans for a memorial service in speedway are pending.
