(UNDATED) - A magnitude 5.0 earthquake in the Ontario-Quebec border region of Canada was felt in central Indiana Wednesday afternoon.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered about 33 miles north-northeast of Ottawa.

An office worker in Anderson, Indiana reported feeling a tremor on the seventh floor of an office building after the quake hit at 1:41PM.

Purdue University Professor of Geophysics Robert Nowack says it's not surprising that some Hoosiers felt the quake here.

He says, "in the eastern United States, these events can be felt for quite long distances."
