(UNDATED) - As kids get out of school for the summer, a state agency is reminding parents to ask questions and be proactive in finding quality childcare.
Melanie Brizzi with the Bureau of Childcare says parents should always ask if a provider is licensed.
Most are required by law, but there are a few exemptions such as providers who only operate during the summer.
Brizzi says licensed or not there are some basic things parents should look for in a childcare provider such as children-to-adult ratio and First Aid and CPR training.
The Childcare Resource and Referral Agency operates in each county and can provide information for parents on what questions to ask as well as available services in the area.
Parents can access the agency by calling 1-800-299-1627 or by going online to chidcarefinder.in.gov.
