School Not Screening Graduation Speeches Following Prayer Lawsuit

Last updated on Tuesday, May 25, 2010

(GREENWOOD, IN) - A central Indiana high school that was sued over a graduation prayer says it will not screen speeches by four seniors who will speak at commencement this Friday.

The announcement comes weeks after a federal judge ruled in favor of Greenwood High School Valedictorian Eric Workman, who filed a lawsuit that claimed it was unconstitutional to say a prayer at graduation.

School officials say speakers will not be stopped, even if they use profane language or deliver politically-charged speeches.
