Indiana Chamber Of Commerce Applauding F.C.C.

Last updated on Wednesday, March 17, 2010

(UNDATED) - The President of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce applauds the F.C.C.’s plan to make faster internet service available to more Americans.

Kevin Brinegar says the "National Broadband Plan" has the kind of potential realized in the last century from the interstate highway system.

But is it worth an expected $20-billion expenditure over the next ten years? "I think you can justify that expense a lot more than you can some of the other things, for example the stimulus package," says Brinegar.

He says it's an investment in infrastructure, helping business to compete worldwide.

"There are areas in Indiana where high-speed internet is not available," says Brinegar.

"It's an inhibitor to business development in those areas."

The goal is to reach 90% of American homes, up from 65% today.
