Health Care Bill Could Cost Indiana Jobs

Last updated on Monday, March 22, 2010

(UNDATED) - The approval of the health care bill could cut several jobs at Sallie Mae in Fishers and Muncie.

A rewrite of college aid is piggy-backed with the bill. It means the government would originate loans, not private lenders.

Sallie Mae would still services loans, but about a third of its employees might be cut loose.

Final approval on the bill is pending.
