Supreme Court To Have Final Say Of New ID Law

Last updated on Tuesday, January 26, 2010

(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - The Indiana Supreme Court will have the final say on the legality of the state’s voter identification law.

The state's highest court has agreed to hear an appeal of a lower court ruling last year that overturned the law, requiring voters to present photo ID prior to casting ballots at polling places throughout the state.

A state appeals court agreed with the league of women voters' argument that the law violated the Indiana constitution by imposing a new requirement on only some voters.
