(UNDATED) - The shortage of nurses across the state will likely continue despite keen student interest in training for the profession.
Susan Nelson, a regional chair of Ivy Tech's Nursing Department, says there are two factors restricting the number of graduates from nursing programs.
One is a lack of qualified instructors.
To teach nursing, a nurse must earn a master's degree or be working toward one.
But Nelson also says a teaching nurse can't earn as much as one who works in a hospital.
