(MOORESVILLE, IN) - A Carmel man had to be rescued after going into the west fork of the White River in Mooresville Tuesday.
A DNR Conservation Officer says 21-year-old Christopher Weiss and a friend were duck hunting from the shoreline when he shot a duck and went into the water to retrieve it.
He walked out into a section of the river where the current was too swift to get back across.
Weiss was able to hold onto debris to keep from washing downstream.
His friend called 911 and members of the Madison Township Fire Department were able to reach him with a rope and pull him to safety.
Weiss was placed in an ambulance to warm up and then released.
