(WASHINGTON, IN) - Indiana Congressman Mike Pence decided not to seek the republican nomination to challenge Democratic Senator Evan Bayh.

In an email to supporters, Pence says he will instead run for a sixth term in the house.

He gathered his family together Monday night and reached the decision to stick with his current position as the third-ranking member of the house GOP leadership.

He says that is where he has the best opportunity to make history and help the republican party retake the house in 2010.
