(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The U.S. House has approved legislation, now headed to the senate, that would require all new manufactured and mobile homes to be equipped with emergency weather radios.
The bill is called CJ's Home Protection Act, named for two-year-old C.J. Martin who was killed when an F3 tornado hit southwest Indiana November 6, 2005.
That storm killed 25 Hoosiers in all.
The boy's grandmother and great-grandmother were also among the victims.
The family was sleeping when the tornado struck shortly before 2:00AM.
A NOAA weather radio sounds a sharp, audible alarm that could have awakened them.
