(UNDATED) - The Indiana Retail Council says Hoosier shoppers were out in full force on Black Friday.
Although it's too early to provide actual numbers, Indiana Retail Council Grant Monahan has talked to several businesses about the start of the holiday shopping season.
He says both discount retailers and independent retailers are pleased with initial results.
The Indiana Retail Council is projecting an overall 1-2% increase in holiday spending, but cautions that consumers are still concerned about the family budget.
This year, many of the in-store deals were also available online.
Web Marketing Analyst Coremetrics says its data showed the average amount online shoppers spent on Black Friday rose 35% as shoppers spent roughly $170.19 per order.
