Last updated on Friday, December 11, 2009

(MICHIGAN CITY, IN) - Convicted murderer Matthew Eric Wrinkles was executed early this morning at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

Wrinkles was convicted in 1995 of murdering his wife Debbie Wrinkles along with Tony and Natalie Fulkerson in Evansville.

The execution process began shortly after 12:00AM and Wrinkles complied with staff and did not physically resist the process.

Wrinkles made an oral statement prior the execution: "not at this time lets get it done, lets lock and load, its plagiarized but what the hell."

The execution of Eric Wrinkles will be Indiana's first in more than two years and it could be the last for a while.

Besides wrinkles, 12 killers are awaiting execution in Indiana.

A prayer vigil was planned in Evansville Thursday night by death penalty opponents.
