Carmel Florist Selected To Decorate The White House

(CARMEL, IN) - A florist in Carmel was selected to help decorate the White House for the holidays.

Kaeley Ritterskamp, owner of sweet pea floral design, spent five days in Washington, D.C. working on several rooms, including the East Wing, where First Lady Michelle Obama's office is located, the State Dining Room, the Red Room and the West Wing.

Ritterskamp says a former employer in Chicago contacted her to see if she would be interested in leading the floral designs for the White House decoration team.

Her "wow" moment came when she while she was in the West Wing and looked down the hallway to the Oval Office realizing the president was on the other side of the door.

She also was able to meet one on one with the first lady and make arrangement's for Michelle Obama's office.

Ritterskamp says she utilized several fresh traditional greens with heavy emphasis on Winterberry.
