(VALPARAISO, IN) - A jury in Porter County has convicted 37-year-old Brian Reese of the attempted murder of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Jason Fishburn, as well as additional counts of resisting arrest and carrying a handgun without a license.

The trial was held in Valparaiso on a change of venue because of pretrial publicity.

The jury apparently rejects Reese's own testimony that he fired his father's gun shooting Wildy over his shoulder as he ran from Fishburn and other officers.

In brief rebuttal for the prosecution, his girlfriend, Lona Bishop, was recalled to the stand Tuesday to testify that it was Brian's gun that he carried it "all the time."

A man Reese met in a holding cell in march testified that the defendant admitted to him that he fired the shots after waiting in ambush in a narrow space between two houses in the 800 block of Euclid street on the city's east side July 10th, 2008.

Reese will be sentenced later.

He could get up to 59 years in prison.

And he is still awaiting trial for the murders of three people in two separate cases.
