University Professor Talks Of Cautious Holiday Shoppers

(MUNCIE, IN) - In the retail business, it is never too early to think about Christmas.
Ball State University Economics Professor Mike Hicks predicts holiday shoppers will look for their Christmas gifts at discount and dollar stores as a result of continued cautious consumer spending.
A holiday study recently published by Nielsen found that 85 percent of households expected to spend the same or less this year than 2008.
