Last updated on Friday, October 23, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A liquid propane tanker truck exploded in a huge fireball on the southbound ramp from I-69 to I-465 in Indianapolis Thursday morning.

It happened at about 10:45AM on the northeast side of the city.

State police say the truck apparently rolled and caught fire underneath the I-465 bridge overpass.

Lonnie Hood from Acton, Indiana, was working in the area and was able to pull the truck driver out before the tanker exploded.

The truck driver sustained only cuts to his face, but the driver in the car behind the tanker suffered severe burns and was taken to Wishard Hospital's burn unit.

The I-465 bridge was damaged in the explosion and will be checked for structural damage.
