(UNDATED) - Making it easier for Indiana families to make healthy food choices is the goal of Project 18’s “Down the Aisle” program.
The project's partners, including Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent and Marsh Supermarkets, say more than 600 approved food choices now sport a project 18 logo at all Indiana Marsh stores.
Project 18, named after Peyton Manning's football jersey number, provides elementary schools with an 18-week health and wellness curriculum focusing on nutrition, physical activity and general health.
It's designed to address major health risk behavior among third grade to fifth grade students.
State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Judy Monroe says the food store chain is tracking sales data on the project 18 food items to help gauge the success of the program.
