(UNDATED) - Basketball legend and Hoosier native John Wooden today celebrates his 99th birthday in southern California.
Wooden's friend and co-author Don Yaeger says Indiana played a big part in shaping the celebrated coach's life.
He was the first person to be inducted into the basketball hall of fame as a player and as a coach. In 1972, wooden was selected Sports Illustrated's "Sportsman of the Year."
