Indy Man Convicted Of Mass Murder

Last updated on Friday, October 23, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis man convicted in the Hamilton Avenue mass murder returns to the courtroom this morning for the penalty phase of his trial.

The prosecution is asking that Desmond Turner be sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole.

Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi says Turner helped convict himself with his own words and actions, including his flight to Kentucky and a letter containing an apparent threat to a key witness.

Turner's accused accomplice, James Stewart, goes on trial December 7th.

He faces the same charges plus two additional weapons charges.

Seven people, including three children were gunned down in a home in 2006.
