(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Today will be day two of a mass murder trial in Indianapolis.
The man accused of firing most of the shots, Desmond Turner, could get life in prison if convicted.
Seven people were shot to death in their home, three of them children.
Defense Attorney Lorinda Youngcourt told Marion Superior Judge Robert Altice that the state is trying the wrong man.
She said the state's own testimony will show there were others in the neighborhood who "wanted the Valdez-Covarrubias family gone."
Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi has acknowledged a lack of physical evidence placing Turner at the scene.
But he promises testimony from others that the defendant planned to rob the victims in their home.
The accusations could come soon with several of the defendant's acquaintances expected to testify.
