(ROCKPORT) - An estimated 1.5 million people will attend the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County.
The 53rd edition of the festival opens today.
Parke County Incorporated Executive Secretary Cathy Harkrider says getting ready for the festival starts almost as soon as last's year event ends.
There's 31 bridges and three-thousand vendors.
The 31 bridges of Parke County have been preserved and have been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Parke County calls itself the "covered bridge capital of the world".
The festival runs through October 18. You can find maps of covered bridge routes and vendor locations at www.coveredbridges.com
