Man Injured During House Explosion

(ALEXANDRIA, IN) - One person was hurt in a house explosion in Alexandria Tuesday night. 20-year-old Derek Noland was standing on the street corner when firefighters arrived.

He was burned from head to toe. Witnesses say Noland was on the 2nd floor of the home when it exploded.

He was burned on over 60-percent of his body and is being treated at the Wishard Hospital Burn Unit. He was listed in critical condition.

The explosion happened around 6:00PM and it was felt miles away.

Five other homes were damaged, but there were no other injuries.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the incident.
