Last updated on Monday, September 14, 2009

(DUGGER, IN) - One of Indiana’s most notorious murderers becomes a free man today.

Jerry Cliver, a former Indiana State Trooper, has been imprisoned in Florida since 1987.

25-years ago, Cliver went to the Dugger home of his ex-wife.

There he shot and killed her boyfriend and seriously injured his ex-wife.

He was captured but two weeks before his trial, Cliver escaped from the Sullivan County Jail and eluded police for over a year.

He was finally caught in Florida after he shot a Florida State Trooper.
