Wine Owner Commenting On Winery Growth Throughout Indiana

Last updated on Monday, August 17, 2009

(PLAINFIELD, IN) - Chateau Thomas Winery founder Charlie Thomas says the Hoosier Wine Industry has blossomed since the 1970’s.

Thomas says he was the state's 15th winery when he opened in Plainfield in 1984, but many had also closed by then.

Now Chateau Thomas is one of about 42 wineries in the state with six more due to open by the end of the year.

Thomas says one of the biggest obstacles Hoosier wineries had to overcome was letting people know where they are located.
