Company Agrees To Clean Up Abandoned Oil Well

Last updated on Friday, August 21, 2009

(MOUNT VERNON, IN) - Countrymark Cooperative has agreed to clean up abandoned oil well equipment in Harmonie State Park.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says a consent decree has been reached among the state, Countrymark and the federal government.

The decree helps settle a lawsuit stemming from a May 2003 oil spill from the company's facilities that polluted a wooded area in Posey County.
