BMV Crediting Hobart Branch Employee For Protecting A Customer's Identity

Last updated on Wednesday, August 26, 2009

(HAMMOND, IN) - The Indiana BMV is crediting an alert Hobart Branch employee and renewed efforts to protect customer identity with nabbing an alleged identity thief.

The BMV claims the customer service representative recognized George Henry helms from a "wanted" poster, prompting the worker to call police.

Authorities discovered helms had an active warrant for check deception in Hammond.

BMV officials believe that the Illinois resident potentially had ten different identities and was attempting to get an 11th credential in Indiana.
