2-Year-Old Shoots 1-Year-Old In Face, Mother Arrested

(FORT WAYNE) - A Fort Wayne mother faces formal charges of neglect of a dependent after her two-year-old son shot her one-year-old son in the face.

Police say 21-year-old Janice Collins was watching TV when the shooting occurred on may 11th.

The younger boy was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Collins told police she had kept her boyfriend's gun in her home for safety purposes.

She faces two counts of neglect of a dependent, but had not been arrested Monday night.
