New Study Hopes To Make Next State Budget Less Stressfull

Last updated on Sunday, July 5, 2009

(STATEHOUSE) - A study is planned to make formulating the state’s next budget less stressful.
stressful.

Legislators spent six months wrangling over how to divvy up the money available for schools.

Republicans argue throwing more money at schools which are losing students leaves less for districts trying to keep up with growing enrollment.

Democrats contend cutting funding to declining districts could be their death blow.

The legislature plans a two-year study of whether a formula can be standardized, instead of forcing negotiators to reinvent it with every budget.
