Munice Man Serving Time For Concaine Dealing

Last updated on Saturday, July 18, 2009

(MUNCIE) - A Muncie man serving prison time for a 2008 cocaine-dealing conviction, will likely stay in the slammer much longer.

This after DNA tests linked 37-year-old Damar Bell to a 2004 rape. In June of that year, the alleged victim told police a man forced his way into her home, hit her in the face and forced her to perform a sex act before raping her.

Delaware County investigator Jerry Cook says his office was able to link bell to the crime while reviewing cold cases.

Bell is currently serving a 14 year sentence for dealing coke.

Nine years ago, he was also charged with rape, criminal conduct and burglary.

He goes to court on the new rape charge on July 30 in Delaware County Circuit Court.
