(UNDATED) - A lawsuit accuses Indiana of not complying with the federal "motor voter" law.

The "motor voter" law gets its name from the requirement that license branches distribute voter registration applications.

But the law also requires welfare offices to do the same.

The nonprofit voting-rights group project vote charges Indiana offices aren't.

Project vote says a staffer posing as a public-assistance applicant visited several welfare offices in Marion and Lake Counties last November to test compliance.
