(GEORGETOWN) - Officials in the Floyd County town of Georgetown say they're hopeful of finding a solution to a million-dollar debt dilemma without following through on a threat to declare bankruptcy.
The town of about three-thousand has been trying for three years to build a new sewage treatment plant.
An annexation dispute with residents of neighboring Edwardsville has delayed the project, saddling Georgetown with a potential $450,000 penalty payment to the city of New Albany for missing a deadline to cut loose from the city sewers.
