First Silver Alert In Indiana Deemed Accidental Drowning

Last updated on Wednesday, July 15, 2009

(BOONVILLE) - The Warrick County Chief Deputy coroner says the death of a missing Alzheimer’s patient near Boonville has been ruled accidental due to freshwater drowning.

66-year-old Mary Elaine Heidorn apparently fell in a ditch near her home, became stuck in the mud and then fell face-down in about five inches of water.

Heidorn had been missing since walking away from her home.

She was the subject of Indiana's first silver alert issued Tuesday morning.
