Bad Supervision Believed To Be Responsible For Escaped Inmates

Last updated on Thursday, July 16, 2009

(MICHIGAN CITY) - The Indiana Department of Correction now believes three correctional officers may have been negligent in supervising the three prisoners who escaped from the state prison in Michigan City Sunday.

Two of the escapees remain at large.

IDOC Spokesman Doug Garrison says a standing order requires prisoners to have constant supervision when they are working in the tunnels where the escape occurred.
