State Police Investigate Sheriff Deputy Shooting (Update)

(ANDERSON) - An Anderson man is recovering from gunshot wounds after allegedly pulling a knife on a Sheriff’s Deputy during a weekend traffic stop.

29-year-old Shain Arnold was treated and is being held at the Madison County detention center.

Investigators say it began with a hit-and-run accident near an Anderson-area restaurant.

When officers spotted the suspect driving in a car with new damage, they gave chase.

Police say the man was waiving a gun at officers.

A Sheriff's Deputy was forced to open fire, striking the suspect in the legs.

(ANDERSON) - State police are investigating a shooting involving a Madison County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday night.

According to the report, Sheriff's Deputy Major Brian Bell shot Shain Arnold of Anderson in both legs after Arnold had waved a weapon at the officers.

He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No police officers were injured in the incident.

The shooting followed a short pursuit of Arnold's vehicle after a hit-and-run accident at a local restaurant.

(ANDERSON) - State Police are investigating a shooting involving a Madison County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday night.

According to the report, the sheriff's deputy shot a motorist following a short pursuit of a vehicle on state road 67 near county road 150 south.

The driver was taken to an Anderson hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
