Puppies Rescued From Southern Indiana Mill Now In Indy

Last updated on Thursday, June 4, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Approximately 30 rescued puppy-mill dogs from southern Indiana have arrived in Indianapolis.

The Humane Society of Indianapolis will care for them and later place them for adoption.

The dogs, along with hundreds of others, were rescued from a Harrison County puppy mill whose owners owe state sales and income taxes, according to the state attorney general's office.

The Humane Society of Indianapolis worked with the Humane Society of the United States and other rescue and animal-welfare organizations to save the dogs from squalid, cramped conditions.

They will be screened for health issues and will be available for adoption in a couple of weeks.
