Neighborhood Associations Able To Track Foreclosed Houses In Indy

Last updated on Tuesday, June 2, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Neighborhood associations in Indianapolis now have free access to track the sale of foreclosed and abandoned homes in their area.

Marion County Clerk Beth White says the foreclosure trend in Marion County is on track to exceed that of 2007, which was the worst year ever.

Neighborhood associations that had wanted to monitor properties in their area found the cost prohibitive to access online sheriff sale information.

White says registered associations can now get the information for free if they apply to the county for a waiver of the fees.

She says the information empowers the associations to stem the ripple effect foreclosed and abandoned homes have on property values in neighborhoods.
