(UNDATED) - The Indiana State Department of Health expects mosquitoes to be more of a nuisance this spring and summer.

The amount of rain in April, May and June is helping the potentially dangerous bugs breed faster than usual.

IDHS epidemiologist James Howell says they are collecting larger number of culex mosquitoes which are the kind of bugs that carry the West Nile Virus after being infected by birds.

Howell says none of the mosquitoes have tested positive so far this season for the West Nile Virus in Indiana, but he expects that to change as we move into summer.
