Last updated on Saturday, June 27, 2009

(LAFAYETTE) - Catholic churches in Tippecanoe and White Counties are taking precautions after the World Health Organization recently declared a global pandemic for the H1N1 Flu.

The Lafayette Diocese is no longer including sacramental wine from a common cup.

The pastor for both St. Mary and St. Lawrence churches have temporarily eliminated other mass practices, like holding hands during "the lord's prayer," shaking hands during the sign of peace, and placing the communion wafer on the tongue.

Six cases of H1N1 have been reported in Tippecanoe County.

One case has been reported in white county.

All of the patients have recovered.
