Former Crawfordsville Police Sergeant Files Lawsuit

Last updated on Friday, June 5, 2009

(CRAWFORDSVILLE) - A former Crawfordsville Police Sergeant has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit.

Lori Ford filed the suit against the city of Crawfordsville, current Mayor Charles Coons, former Mayor John Zumer, Police Chief Kurth Knecht and many others for discriminating and retaliating against her for exercising rights under title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Ford charges the city and officials retaliated against her because she filed a federal complaint in 2007.

She claimed she was harassed, ostracized and isolated after returning to work.

She is seeking over 1 million dollars.

No court date has been set.

Ford is the only female police sergeant and detective ever to serve in Crawfordsville.
