New POW-MIA License Plate Unveiled Today

Last updated on Thursday, May 21, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new specialty license plate honoring all Hoosier veterans who are missing in action or listed as prisoners of war was unveiled today by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The Rolling Thunder POW-MIA license plate was one of the applications for a 2010 special group recognition license plate.

Applications were evaluated based on criteria related to technical requirements set forth in Indiana Law and Standards that demonstrate, among other things, an uncommon level of distinction that sets the organization and its purpose for the plate apart from others.

Funds from the sales of this plate will go to the veterans assistance trust fund established by the general assembly in 2007 to assist veterans and their families in times of financial hardship.

The plate will be available to all Hoosiers beginning in 2010.
