(INDIANAPOLIS) - 52-year-old Richard Leslie of Indianapolis, a mail handler with the U.S. Postal service, has been sentenced to six months home detention and three years probation by a federal judge after he pleaded guilty to making or using a false document.
As a postal worker, he was entitled to take military leave for authorized service in the Armed Forces Reserve or National Guard.
Leslie had retired from the army reserve in August 2005 after serving for twenty years.
But beginning in November of that year, he began submitting requests for military leave.
Over two years, Leslie was paid almost 43-hundred dollars for the military leave he was not entitled to before the Postal Service Office of The Inspector General caught up with him.
In addition to his home detention and probation sentence, he was ordered to pay back the money he received and pay a $250 fine.
