(STATEHOUSE) - The purpose of the upcoming special session of the general assembly is to pass a new state budget.

Legislative leaders say they hope to leave it at that. Legislators can introduce any bill in a special session, just like in a regular session.

House Speaker Patrick Bauer and Senate President Pro Tem David Long both say they want to pass a budget and go home.

But Long concedes other proposals may be crammed into the budget.

He's resigned to dealing again with Indy's capital improvement board.

Bauer says he hopes to reopen discussions on a state stimulus bill, perhaps as part of the budget.

And several lawmakers have raised the possibility of casino legislation, either to relocate one of Gary's casinos, add a gaming license for Fort Wayne, or expand the slot-machine rooms at the state's two horse-racing tracks to allow other forms of gambling.
